Monday 10 January

Well, dear readers, having been a couple of old grumps, we have decided to try to have a more positive attitude today.  We again awoke early and poked our heads outside to feel the beautiful warmth wafting by.

Today was a sea day, so no rush to do anything.  We had breakfast in the buffet area again and spent the rest of the daylight hours relaxing, wandering around the ship and eating and drinking.

We reflected on the positives of the cruise.  As always, the staff are outstanding.  Nothing is too much trouble and, boy, do they work hard.  The food is first-rate and the weather is gorgeous.  We have successfully used the ship’s app (no paid for connection needed to use that) and are booked in at a sensible time for dinner and for some shows – yes you have to book to go the shows now.

Tonight was ‘Celebration Night’ or what would formerly have been the Captain’s Welcome Party.  He now does that remotely from the bridge. There are no gatherings in the atrium.  (Two of these photos show that no sitting at the bar is allowed and that almost all the pools have been emptied and netted off.)

So, we put our best things on and ventured out. How would the other passengers scrub up, we wondered?  Well, the answer was, very well indeed with not all the women wearing black and with the men all wearing dinner suits (a smart business suit is allowed) with the exception of one man who wore pink trousers and trainers!
